A Small $20 Mil Coming Out Party and a Happy Big Bonza Bottler Day
Google’s latest privacy tech roll out is the open-source version of the differential privacy library.
Why is it so interesting? This library helps power some of Google’s core products and now it is available for us non-google species to use it. Key features of the library include statistical functions, rigorous testing, ready to use, and modular functions.
You might notice some Google My Business listings service area changing.
Businesses that are based off of a distance-based service area will be automatically converted to the closest named areas. If you do have a distance-based service area on your google my business, you will get an update notification prompting you to accept the changes Google has made for you or you can choose your own by inputting your service area based on city, ZIP code, etc. Now, go check your GMBs before your service area goes to something crazy… like Paris, Texas.
You may find it shocking to find out that a $20-$30 billion IPO valuation on a business is not great when preparing for your coming out party.
That’s what WeWork’s latest valuation was reported at while they were prepping for their initial public offering. Shocking because WeWork had a valuation of $47 billion earlier this year. Where will our little techies go when it goes down? Or will she succeed at last?
Tech Giant Investigations:
Facebook got hit with ANOTHER antitrust violation investigation b y eight state attorneys general. Alphabet’s rebellious child, Google, is set to have a separate antitrust investigation launched against them this week. More than half the country’s state attorneys general have joined forces to investigate Google’s hand in digital advertising.
