Google My Business moves away from SMS messaging with customers.

Starting November 15, Google My Business messaging will move from SMS to the free Google My Business app. This means that you will no longer receive an SMS when a customer reaches out to you. To keep up with messages from your customer, simply download the Google My Business app, log into your account, tap “Customers” select “Messages” and tap “Turn on Messaging”. 

Instagram to launch a new messaging all called ‘Threads’.

Last month, The Verge reported that Instagram is rolling out a messaging app for close friends. This app would would even include a new “Auto-Status” feature that would update people on your movements throughout the day. Threads is essentially another messaging app, with all the typical messaging features that you would expect.

Google will use learning to manage ad frequency when cookies are missing.

Google announced it will soon be using machine learning to manage ad frequency when cookies are missing. This change will roll out in the next few weeks to Display and Video 360, though Google plans to bring this to its display offerings in Google Ads too. This change has been rolled out in an effort to improve user privacy while still being able to serve ads in a meaningful way.

Twitter apologizes for using phone numbers and email addresses for ad targeting.

This week Twitter admitted that it had been using people’s personal emails and phone numbers for ad targeting purposes. Twitter found that people’s personal information, which they provided purely for account security purposes, had been used to match them for more relevant ads.

Google just released its latest 'Frightgeist' search trends index, which showcases the latest Halloween search trends by region, costume, and a variety of other subjects. The newly released Frightgeist has improved from years past with updated graphics and creepy, 80s horror movie style music that plays in the background
